About Us
The mission of 5 Elements is to explore new methods of promoting educational and personal development from elementary levels to transitional adulthood. We provide supplementary services that will help young people define their own life goals and greater roles within the community. Through our educational activities involving art, academics, and social justice, we use hip-hop culture as a vehicle to support young people in overcoming adversity to become the leaders of our future.
Our student network includes SFUSD alumni enrolled in various local colleges and universities who mentor their younger peers. 5 Elements uses Ethnic Studies frameworks to promote higher education as a means for local, global, and personal empowerment and transformation. Through academic and leadership pipelines, we aim to build and implement a transformative youth development model that grows a community of lifelong critical thinking young professionals who advocate for social equity in whatever field they pursue.
5 Elements Youth Program is a project of fiscal sponsor Independent Arts & Media, San Francisco.
