Youth Arts Framework

We Are Committed To…

  • Introduce and expose youth to the diverse methods of visual expression, with opportunities to explore cultural traditions, identity, and legacy

  • Create platforms for youth to use visual art as a tool of empowerment, while inspiring a vision for solidarity, social change, and justice.

  • Facilitate meaningful relationships between youth participants and artist mentors through a creative and expressive process.

  • Build community and foster meaningful partnerships with schools, programs, organizations, and artist communities to best meet the needs of systematically underserved youth populations.

We Believe That…

  • Art can be used to document the historical, social, political, and cultural moment

  • Art can be used to spark conversations and critical thinking through visual expression

  • Art can communicate needs, demands, experiences and visions for communities

  • Art can be a tool for liberation, to uplift historically marginalized voices

  • Art should never not be censored for its social or political commentary, provided consideration for the context of the community’s time, place, and material condition
